As usually  around 170 Russian bunker professionals gathered in St. Petersburg for their annual forum. The major discussion was focused on  a set of problems - 2020. Participants were trying to resolve issues common to the bunker industry around the world. Will fuel of the required quality be available (<0.50% MGO, ULSFO blend and high-sulphur fuel oil for ships equipped with scrubbers)? What will happen to the prices and demand for marine fuel? What are the intentions of the shipowners? What strategy will they choose to adapt their fleet to MARPOL requirements?

Unambiguous answers to many questions can not be found yet. "WAIT and SEE" position remains the most popular among all businessmen involved in the process. However, certain issues became clearer during discussion. In particular, the public was assured that the Russian industry is ready to offer both an acceptable line of ready-to-use products from refineries and various blending components.
